Motorisation is one of the most requested upgrades we quote, but it isn't a blanket recommendation for every window in a home. It earns its cost fastest on windows that are either hard to reach — stairwells, double-height living rooms, tall villa windows — or operated multiple times a day, like a bedroom blackout blind you'd otherwise raise and lower every morning and evening.
Battery vs hardwired: which suits your home
Battery-powered motors are the more common retrofit choice, since they need no rewiring and typically run for several months between charges. Hardwired motors suit new-build or renovation projects where an electrician is already on site, and remove the charging step entirely. Neither option is inherently better — the right choice usually comes down to whether you're fitting out from scratch or upgrading an existing home.
